In 1954, President Eisenhower dedicated the Aerial Fire Depot and the Northern Forest Fire Lab. The 50th Anniversary of that dedication will be celebrated on this afternoon. A final agenda will be available at a later date, but here are some of the activities we've planned thus far:
Tours of the Aerial Fire Depot, the Northern Forest Fire Lab and the New Missoula Technical Development Center (MEDC). The Dedication of a Mann Gulch Memorial Display and the DC-3 used at Mann Gulch. (This display and the DC-3 are made possible through the efforts of the Museum Of Mountain Flying.) Display of Vintage and Current Smokejumper Aircraft. Tours of the greatly expanded Museum of Mountain Flying. Observe training jumps of current smokejumpers.
