Smokejumper Smoked Imperial Porter (SSIP)-2008 Rollout

I just received a phone call from Chris Lennert, owner of Left Hand Brewery in Longmont, Colorado. He advised that the malt for SSIP has been smoked (Left Hand built their own smoker this year) and the brewing will begin this Friday, October 17.

Ro, Head Brewer for Left Hand, has invited all smokejumpers to join him on Friday to participate in the brewing of the 2008 batch of SSIP. Ro's phone number is 970-376-6478 and if any of you can make it call Ro with questions. If you go, take some pictures, write up the event and we'll post it on Smokejumper.com and the blogs. The location of the LH Brewery in Longmont is 1265 Boston Avenue.

Chris told me that the estimated time for the brew to finish out is six weeks, so expect the 2008 SSIP roll-out party (only one party this year) at the brewery
sometime in late November or early December. Chris also said that SSIP will be available in many more states than it was in 2006.
