Alfred, 90, died in Dallas, TX, on June 24, 2008. He was born in Butler County, Kansas, on June 18, 1918.

As a member of one of the Peace Churches, he entered the Civilian Public Service and jumped from Missoula during the 1944-45 fire seasons. Following his CPS service, he returned to Kansas where he farmed. He is buried at the Gnadenau Cemetery in Hillsboro, Kansas.
